IBM NAMES LEE MURRAY TO HEAD CADAM INC WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lee A. Murray has been
named president of CADAM INC, a wholly owned IBM subsidiary located in Burbank, Calif. Murray succeeds Frank H. Puhl, who is retiring from CADAM INC following 37 years of service. Murray, formerly vice president, business and production management, for IBM's Industrial Sector Division, joined IBM in 1968 and has held numerous management positions including more than 10 years with IBM's Asia/Pacific operations, based in Tokyo.
Commenting on the appointment, Edward J. Kfoury, IBM vice president and president, Industrial Sector division, said: "IBM is committed to leadership in the value-driven desktop platform, the fastest growing area of the CAD marketplace. Lee Murray's combination of marketing and technical experience make him uniquely qualified to lead CADAM INC in its new and challenging focus on this marketplace." CADAM INC was recently restructured to take the lead role for IBM in the development of desktop computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) offerings including development and support of its existing MICRO CADAM, P-CAD(A) and IBM CAD(A) products. Said Murray, "Today's customers want the benefits of easy-to-use, high-function CAD applications on their desktop, either working alone or in conjunction with advanced information technology systems. CADAM INC's new focus on desktop applications will enable us to respond faster to these market requirements, help customers build on their current technology investments, and ensure continued, high-quality support."
