 IBM LAUNCHES TELEVISION CAMPAIGN FOR SLC PROCESSOR
 WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM Corporation


(NYSE: IBM) delivers the message about its powerful SLC microprocessor to an expanded audience this week with a summer television campaign.
 The 30-second commercial will run for five weeks on a variety of network and cable programs, including the Olympics, "Nightline," "Good Morning America" and the Professional Golfers Association championship.
 The campaign, featuring dazzling visuals of a powerful car, plane and boat, focuses on the speed IBM's SLC technology delivers for Personal System/2(see Note A) customers. It was produced by Lintas:New York.
 "Viewers will understand the significant PC performance boost IBM delivers with its SLC processors," said Michael R. Coleman, vice president, IBM's National Distribution Division.
 A new print campaign for the 486SLC2 also breaks this week in PC trade
publications. It complements the television spot, featuring a race car in motion, displayed on a PS/2 terminal. The headline: "This PS/2 SLC is so fast, it comes with its own speeding ticket."
 IBM's 486SLC2 processor will enable customers to nearly quadruple the performance of its popular mid-range PCs with an easy upgrade. Customers using IBM's 386SLC processor will see performance faster than anything in its class.
 The processors are designed and manufactured in IBM's Essex Junction, Vt., semiconductor facility.
