 IBM GERMAN UNIT ORDERS TERADYNE TEST SYSTEM
 BOSTON, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER),


announced today that it has received an order for a J971 VLSI Test System from IBM Deutschland GmbH. The system will be used to test various highly complex VLSI devices. The value of the order was not disclosed.
 The J971 Series of VLSI Test Systems, introduced a year ago, tests advanced VLSI logic devices with pin counts up to 512 and frequency as high as 200 MHz. Systems have been sold to a number of companies in Europe, North America, and Japan, including INMOS, Thomson CSF, SGS-Thomson, Motorola, Sharp, Matsushita, NEC, MIPS, Northern Telecom, and Cyrix. Some customers have purchased multiple systems.
 The J971 VLSI Test system is produced by Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division in Agoura Hills, Calif. Teradyne is a diversified manufacturer of test and connection systems for the electronics and telecommunications industry. The company's stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (Symbol: TER).
