 IBM EXPANDS AS/400 PLUG'N'GO PROGRAM
WITH MORE COMPUTING POWER, 25 NEW SOLUTIONS
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM today expanded the Application System/400 (see note) Plug'N'Go (note) program to provide more computing power and 25 new Plug'N'Go solutions for small businesses and large companies with distributed operations.
Complete Plug'N'Go System Solutions and Plug'N'Go Application Solutions are now available on the powerful AS/400 (note) 9402 Model E04, which supports up to 48 workstations, as well as on the entry-level Model E02.
The E04 uses IBM's billion-byte disk storage device, supports 8- millimeter and 1/2-inch tape devices and can attach the IBM 3995 Compact Optical Library Dataserver, providing economical optical storage for advanced applications including digitized images of checks and other customer records.
Both the E02 and E04 meet "quiet office" standards and each is smaller than a two-drawer filing cabinet.
Twenty-one Plug'N'Go System Solutions and four Plug'N'Go Application Solutions were announced today putting the total Plug'N'Go solutions now available at 50. They provide easy-to-use solutions for key functions, including management, accounting and record keeping for businesses in many industries, including accounting, associations, public sector, legal, wholesale distribution, financial services, health and retail.
Plug'N'Go System Solutions carry a 90-day, unconditional, IBM money- back guarantee of customer satisfaction. Applications are ready to use within about ten minutes of turning on the system.
Customers can now also order WordPerfect (note), the popular word processing program, pre-loaded as part of their Plug'N'Go System Solution configuration. Also, the SAMAC Spreadsheet is available as a Plug'N'Go Application Solution, which can be added easily to an E02 or E04 at the customer's location.
Plug'N'Go System Solutions include an E02 or E04, Operating System/400, the IBM Application Program Driver; customer-selected displays, PS/2s (note) and printers, and pre-loaded application software to meet specific needs of businesses.
The Models E02 and E04 are fully-functioning members of the AS/400 E Model family of 13 computers. AS/400 systems offer outstanding ease of use and integrated relational database, communications, security and other basic operating functions. Worldwide, more than 150,000 AS/400 systems are installed, and there are more than 20,000 applications available.
The Plug'N'Go System Solutions and Plug'N'Go Application Solutions announced today are available May 29 except for one construction system solution, which is available June 26. Prices for the new Plug'N'Go System Solutions on the E04 range from $23,956 to $41,730. Prices for the new Plug'N'Go Application Solutions, which can be installed in a customer's office on the E04, range from $1,295 to $19,500.
