IBM BOARD ELECTS FIVE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENTS

 ARMONK, N.Y., Nov. 25 ~PRNewswire~ -- The IBM (NYSE: IBM) board of directors has elected James A. Cannavino, Ellen M. Hancock, Robert J. LaBant, Ned C. Lautenbach, and M. Bernard Puckett IBM senior vice presidents. They continue in their current positions.
 Mr. Cannavino is general manager, Personal Systems; Mrs. Hancock is general manager, Networking Systems; Mr. LaBant is general manager, IBM North America; Mr. Lautenbach is president and representative director, IBM Asia Pacific; and Mr. Puckett is general manager, Application Solutions. All are members of the IBM Corporate Management Board.
 Mr. Cannavino joined IBM in 1963 as a customer engineer in Chicago. He has held numerous staff and management positions, including assignments in large systems hardware and software development. He was named president of the Data Systems Division in 1987, and was elected IBM vice president in April 1988. He was named president of the Entry Systems Division in 1988 and to his current position as general manager, Personal Systems, in September 1989.
 Mrs. Hancock joined IBM in 1966 as a programmer in Armonk, N.Y. She has served in numerous staff and management positions, including vice president, communications programming, Communication Products Division (CPD), a post she assumed in 1983. She was elected IBM vice president in September 1985 while serving as assistant group executive, systems development, for the Information Systems and Storage Group. She was named CPD president in 1986. In 1988 Mrs. Hancock was named general manager, Communication Systems, a line of business that became Networking Systems in 1991.
 Mr. LaBant joined IBM in 1967 as a marketing representative in Cleveland. He has held numerous management positions, including regional manager in Minneapolis. In 1983 he was named executive assistant to the chairman of the board. Mr. LaBant was appointed president of the North-Central Marketing Division in 1987, and was named general manager for all U.S. market operations in 1989. He was elected IBM vice president in January 1989. In 1990, he was named general manager, Application Business Systems. He was named general manager, IBM United States, in November 1991 and in May 1992, became named general manager, IBM North America.
 Mr. Lautenbach joined IBM in 1968 as a marketing representative in Cincinnati. He has held numerous staff and management positions in both marketing and finance. In 1986 he was named president, National Distribution Division (NDD). He was elected an IBM vice president in February 1987. In 1988 he was named general manager, Application Solutions. In February 1991 he assumed his current position as president and representative director, IBM Asia Pacific.
 Mr. Puckett joined IBM in 1967 as a marketing representative in Memphis, Tenn. He has held numerous marketing management and executive positions, including head of corporate strategy and planning, senior financial officer for U.S. marketing, and head of corporate communications. He was elected an IBM vice president in 1987 and was named president of the Data Systems Division in 1988. He was named to his present position as general manager, Application Solutions, in 1991.
