IBM ANNOUNCES ENHANCED MULTIMEDIA CAPABILITIES

 IBM ANNOUNCES ENHANCED MULTIMEDIA CAPABILITIES
ATLANTA, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM today announced enhancements to

two of its multimedia products designed to improve the presentation- making and multimedia application development capabilities of IBM's Ultimedia(A) platforms.
The products - Storyboard Live!(A) 2.0 and M-Control Program/2 Version 2.01 - evolve from multimedia products already on the market. IBM also announced the availability of a 14-inch version of its PS/2 TouchSelect screen adapter.
Storyboard Live 2.0 is the newest version of the award-winning DOS- based multimedia authoring tool that integrates motion video, audio voiceover and other sound with animation, still photography, drawing/painting, music and text. It is a member of the IBM Ultimedia Tools Series, which provides the multimedia industry with compatible and consistent multimedia application development tools.
New features include: Digital Video Interactive (DVI(B)) technology support with the IBM ActionMedia(B) II adapters for both capture and playback; improved support for IBM's M-Motion Video Adapter/A and M- Audio Capture and Playback adapter; enhanced documentation and product tutorial; support for additional (OEM) audio and video adapters; and 14 additional fonts and 30 digitized sound files.
This entry level product, which plays audio and video with no additional hardware, runs on virtually any IBM or compatible system. Upgrade from all prior IBM Storyboard versions is available. The suggested retail price of Storyboard Live! 2.0 is $395.
The IBM M-Control Program/2 V 2.01 is an update to the existing M- Control Program/2 V 2.0. With the existing Version 2.0, you can develop and run multimedia applications for the M-Motion Video Adapter/A in the following environments: DOS, OS/2(A) 2.0 with Multimedia Presentation Manager/2(A) (MMPM/2), and Microsoft Windows(C) with Multimedia Extensions.
By extending support to MMPM/2, the multimedia extensions to OS/2 provide the unifying environment for the Ultimedia platform by defining standard interfaces between multimedia devices and OS/2 2.0 multimedia applications.
The V 2.01 update includes a video overlay media driver, an amplifier-mixer media driver, a set of standard multimedia device controls which can be incorporated into any MMPM/2 application, and a set of videodisc player device drivers for players not currently supported by MMPM/2.
The video overlay and amplifier-mixer media drivers support the following M-Motion Video Adapter/A capabilities under MMPM/2: motion and still video, image capture, video windowing, and analog audio.
 M-Control Program/2 V 2.01 is a no-charge update for licensed users of M-Control Program/2 V 2.0, which sells for $195.
The 14" model of the IBM Personal System/2(A) (PS/2(A)) TouchSelect(A) joins the models that were announced last year, which fit 12" and 19" screens. TouchSelect provides IBM PS/2 users with a "snap- on" natural user interface and adds the power of touch to their existing display screens.
TouchSelect is based on the same state-of-the-art technology as the IBM 8516 Touch Display and snaps on to the IBM 8511, 8515, 8518, 9515, and 9518 displays. It is compatible with PS/2 Models 30 and above, and with IBM 8516 Touch Display applications. It will retail for $630.
