IBM AND PMSC ANNOUNCE JOINT OUTSOURCING OFFERING
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM), its

wholly owned services subsidiary Integrated Systems Solutions Corp. and Policy Management Systems Corp. today announced a marketing agreement to provide outsourcing services to the insurance industry through a new offering called INSERV.
The teaming of ISSC and PMSC, IBM's insurance industry affiliate, will provide customer-tailored information services to life, health and property and casualty insurers.
INSERV's system services offerings will include dedicated systems operations, shared host processing, systems programming, network management and help desk operations. Application offerings include installation and support of PMSC's licensed software, supporting customers' existing applications as well as developing new applications that include use of relational databases and cooperative processing applications where host systems and workstations are linked seamlessly for the end user.
Customers' needs will determine the personnel dedicated to each INSERV team with ISSC and PMSC receiving revenue based on each company's contributions on a project.
Outsourcing services will be offered under the INSERV name when all three parties participate to address a customer's requirements, but each is free to pursue other opportunities independently.
"The INSERV partnership is a natural extension of the IBM PMSC alliance and an outgrowth of our existing service business," said Larry Wilson, Chairman and President of PMSC. "The combination of PMSC's insurance expertise with IBM's product, technology and service strengths will provide a significant offering for customers considering outsourcing alternatives."
Paul V. Brooks, director, IBM U.S. Insurance Industry, said "The relationship between IBM and PMSC has been one of IBM's most successful equity ventures. The new INSERV offering will enhance and expand this alliance to the outsourcing arena in response to the needs of our insurance customers."
