IBERIA SELECTS WICAT FOR CBT CONVERSION

OREM, Utah, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicat announced today that Iberia Airlines of Spain has selected Wicat to convert existing B747-200, B727 and DC10 slide/tape programs to run on the Wicat Multimedia Computer-base Training (CBT) hardware installed in the Flight Crew Training Centre in Madrid.
The conversion process includes scanning the existing slides and storing them as bit-map digitized graphics, as well as developing the interactions and lesson controls. As part of the process, Iberia will use existing Wicat development tools to digitize the audio tapes and attach the audio files to the lessons delivered by Wicat.
The resulting CBT lessons will replace current STA Teaching Machines, which are becoming dated and difficult to maintain. Once converted, these lessons will be deliverable on the same Wicat CBT hardware currently delivering B757, A-320, MD87 and TCAS11 CBT courseware.
Other benefits of the conversion include easier and faster course modification, smooth delivery medium, faster and easier access to any lesson in any module, and a significant savings in space by eliminating the need for slide cartridges and audio tapes. Because the converted slide-tape programs are now "CBT lessons," they can be modified using the Wicat CBT development tools already in use at Iberia.
