IBEC '93 WILL AWARD CASH PRIZE FOR BEST BODY INNOVATION

 DETROIT, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Two thousand dollars and peer recognition await the winner of the International Body Engineering Conference's "Body Innovation Award" to be presented at IBEC '93 in September.
 The award will be given for the best innovation in automotive bodies relating to materials, design, engineering, manufacturing, processes, systems or components.
 "The Body Innovation Award will recognize and reward achievements in total automotive body systems that represent tangible contributions to solving problems and/or advancing technology," said Nasim Uddin, chair, technical coordinating committee for IBEC.
 A selection committee chaired by Shigeo Sakahara, vice president,


Production Technology and Engineering, Mazda R & D -- North America, will judge entries. The winner will be announced during the IBEC reception dinner Sept. 21.
 IBEC '93, "Total Automotive Body Systems: In Pursuit of Global Excellence," the first conference devoted to auto body systems, will take place Sept. 21-23 at the Westin Hotel, Detroit. It will convene international design, manufacturing, materials, and process engineers and experts to discuss global technology and information.
 Plenary speakers will be Francois J. Castaing, vice president, Vehicle Engineering for Chrysler Corporation; Kenneth K. Kohrs, vice president, Car Product Development, Ford Motor Company; and Gary L. Cowger, executive-in-charge, NAO Operations Support, General Motors Corporation, along with presenters of some 100 important new technical papers. OEM and suppliers will exhibit products and services.
