IBA in top four global finalists.

KARACHI -- The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi's Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has been selected as a finalist in the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USABE) Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Awards for the category of Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Programme Abroad.

An IBA official said here on Saturday that the USASBE is the leading entrepreneurship research and teaching entity in the world. Director CED, IBA Karachi Dr. Shahid Qureshi, submitted the case study of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) - a rigorous six-month programme that equips students with technical and practical knowledge, grooming rural as well as urban youth of Sindh to pursue agriculture based opportunities - as a result of which the IBA-CED was selected among the top four finalists, which include:

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Queens University, Belfast, Center for Entrepreneurship, Moscow The finalists will present at the USASBE Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, USA in January, 2014.

The IBA-CED is envisioned to play a strategic role in promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistan and to create a new breed of youth and professionals who believe in opportunity recognition and new venture creation.

Accordingly, the Center aims to support the creation of new companies that add substantial jobs, incomes and revenues to Pakistan's economy and for fulfilling this objective it regularly conducts different programmes with the EDP being the most successful one.
