WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS-June 16, 2011-IAR Systems development tools used by Qualcomm Atheros for new Wi-Fi module(C)1995-2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS http://www.m2.comIAR Systems, a supplier of software tools for developing embedded systems applications, said today that it had collaborated with Qualcomm Atheros on its new Wi-Fi system-in-package (SIP) development system.
The IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM was selected as the preferred development tool for the AR4100, an integrated Wi-Fi SIP for microcontroller based design.
The new module is based on 802.11b/g/n single-stream Wi-Fi Align technology from Qualcomm Atheros, the networking and connectivity subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), enabling long range transmission while minimising energy consumption. It is optimised for client applications hosted by low-resource microcontroller units that send infrequent data packets over the network.
According to IAR Systems the target market for the AR4100 Wi-Fi solution is customers in the smart home, smart grid and smart building markets.
