I-FLOW CORP. RECEIVES FDA PERMISSION TO MARKET
ITS NEW DISPOSABLE DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM
IRVINE, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- I-FLOW Corp. (NASDAQ: IFLO), manufacturer and seller of innovative ambulatory infusion devices, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted the company permission to market its new disposable drug delivery system for antibiotics. This new product, the SideKick, will compete in the fast-growing market for disposable pumps designed to deliver antibiotics in the home. This year, more than 6 million disposable pumps are expected to be sold for this purpose with a market value exceeding $60 million. I-Flow will begin marketing the SideKick in July.
"Due to its low cost to manufacture and its ease of use, our new disposable pump is a breakthrough in economy and convenience for the antibiotic patient receiving treatment outside of the hospital," reports Donald M. Earhart, president and chief executive officer. "Compared to competitive systems, the SideKick will be easier to use and will be priced significantly less -- benefiting patients, healthcare providers and insurers alike. This revolutionary new product is just one more example of our corporate mandate to provide infusion devices designed to meet the need for cost-effective IV therapy in the alternate care setting."
I-Flow Corp. designs, develops, manufactures and markets technically advanced ambulatory infusion systems uniquely well-suited to the alternate care environment. Reliable, efficient and easy to use, I-Flow products offer users substantial opportunities to expand their therapy base, improve quality of care and increase productivity. These advantages translate into improved revenues and profits for healthcare providers while reducing costs and improving the quality of life for patients.
