I-5 Publishing and Dogs in Review Announce Michell Evans as Groomer of the Year.

Irvine, CA, February 14, 2015 --( Michell Evans will be awarded the prestigious honor of Groomer of the Year for her achievements in canine and animal training at this year's Purina Pro Plan 60th Annual Show Dogs of the Year[R] Awards, presented by I-5 Publishing's Dogs in Review. The country's top canine competitors come together for the black-tie event on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Gotham Hall, New York, NY.

Andis, an exclusive sponsor of the Groomer of the Year Award, presents the honor to Evans in recognition of her significant accomplishments in professional canine grooming. The Purina Pro Plan Show Dogs of the Year Awards are held in the highest esteem by the dog fancy community and represent the best of both dogs and industry professionals who have shown a consistency of success in the world of conformation.

“Being a professional dog groomer means you are part of a small, elite group of individuals who have answered a calling,” says Karen Formico, Vice President of marketing for Andis. “It takes a special person to accept this challenge and no shortage of hard work is required to make it to the top. We at Andis are happy that tonight's honoree, Michell Evans, answered this challenge and are thrilled that Andis grooming tools bring life to her inspiration.”

The annual Purina Pro Plan Show Dogs of the Year Award statuettes, also known as The Winkies[R], are presented to the year's highest achievers in show dog categories, Special Industry Awards and Annual Achievement Awards. Along with Groomer of the Year, the Special Industry Awards also include Shelter of the Year and Trainer of the Year.

“Throughout her impressive career Michell has groomed and/or handled more than 24 breeds at AKC and CKC dog shows, but if you ask her the thing she is most proud of, she will tell you it is her work to educate future award winning groomers,” adds Formico. “Michell's passion for passing along her knowledge led her to open “The Grooming Tutor” where she has been proudly educating groomers since 2000.”

About Show Dogs of the Year Awards

The Show Dogs of the Year Awards have spent the past 60 years celebrating the excellence of the top Group winning show dogs, along with their owners, handlers and breeders. In order to win an award, a dog must achieve the most Group wins during a single calendar year at American Kennel Club-sanctioned conformation shows. Other recognitions include various awards presented to top professionals within the show dogs industry, as well as the Dogs in Review Annual Achievement Awards, affectionately known as the Winkies. Currently the awards are sponsored by Purina[R] Pro Plan[R] and presented by Dogs in Review. These awards are presented at a black tie banquet held in New York City immediately prior to the Westminster Kennel Club show in February.
