I'VE GOT TO LET TINO GO; Kenny's OK for Parma deal.
He confirmed that the Colombian striker had been given permission to speak to Parma about a return to the club he left for a pounds 7.5 million move to Tyneside in 1996.
Dalglish said: "It's a bit of a disappointment that we've had to make a decision at this time and I'm sure that disappointment will be shared with our supporters.
"We believed Tino was perfectly happy at the start of the season. If not, we would not have sold Les Ferdinand to Tottenham.
"When his agent spoke to us just before Christmas and said his player was unhappy we dismissed this.
"In fact, we ignored Parma's approaches twice. But, if he wants to leave it is in our interests as well as his to allow him to go."
Asprilla was worshiped by the Toon Army and the highlight of his Newcastle career was a hat- trick against Barcelona in the Champions League last year.
Dalglish added: "He was very popular with the rest of the lads and instead of remembering recent days I would like to remember him for his performance against Barcelona."
Asprilla was at Newcastle's training ground yesterday but did not train with the rest of the squad.
While Asprilla is on the way out, Dalglish confirmed that former Metz central defender David Terrier, who played against Newcastle in last season's UEFA Cup, is joining the club.
