I'M AN ECKS LOOKALIKE; Work is drying up for Salmond impersonator.

Byline: RECORD REPORTER

PLENTY of Scots were sorry to see Alex Salmond quit, but John MacLeod was more sorry than most.

He's been having great fun - and making a few quid - working as Eck's lookalike.

Jobs are getting thin on the ground now Salmond has stepped down.

But John, of Blackburn in Aberdeenshire, will always have his memories.

And with Salmond being careful not to rule a return to the spotlight as a Westminster MP, he's hoping the good times might come back soon.

John, who's been working for the Susan Scott Lookalikes agency, told the BBC: "It was ace, really good fun. We did a few stunts.

"People would say, 'There's Alex Salmond.'" While the change at the top is bad news for John, it'll be good for someone else - the first Nicola Sturgeon lookalike.

He said: "Whoever gets her will make money."
