I'LL LOCK UP FIRST-TIME DRUNKS.

A JUDGE yesterday slammed the booze culture and warned he'll jail first-offender drunken louts under his own zero-tolerance policy.

Four in ten of Judge Graham Cottle's cases are now alcohol-related - and "very frequently" violent drunks are ladettes. The judge, who sits at Exeter, blasted licensing laws "relaxed to the point where effectively there aren't any" and cheap supermarket drink. Judge Cottle, 61, said: "I have adopted an approach which is as near to zero-tolerance as is consistent with my duty.

"Ordinary people are frightened to have a civilised night out."
