Hybrid is highlight.

TOYOTA gears up for a busy September plate change month with overall sales up nearly 5% over last year.

On the new car front, the highlight of the year has been the launch of the Auris HSD full hybrid, which started production in July at Toyota's UK manufacturing plant in Derby.

This rival to the Ford Focus has the accolade of being not only Toyota's first Europeanbuilt full hybrid but the first mass produced full hybrid to be built in Europe.

The stylish Auris HSD can achieve 74.3mpg on average, with CO2 emissions of just 89g/km, making it tax exempt for private buyers.

As a full hybrid, the impressive Auris HSD is able to run solely on electric power at lower speed, meaning zero fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, but with a limited range of about two miles before the petrol engine cuts back in.

Currently the Auris HSD is available with an insurance offer that provides eligible customers with fully comprehensive insurance cover for one year for just pounds 199.

Local Toyota Centres are offering competitive deals to retail customers across the entire model range, which starts with the Aygo city car priced from pounds 8,220 and tops out at pounds 58,110 for the Land Cruiser 4x4.

All Toyota passenger cars now come with a standard five-year/100,000 mile vehicle manufacturers warranty.
