Hunt is on for girls on film; Arts.

Byline: Joe Riley

WHEN Birkenhead's Ritz theatre/cinema closed in 2000, the photographs of this "showplace of the north" went toWirral Museum in the town hall.

Since then projectionists Mike Taylor and Edward Peak, who operate the museum cinema, have displayed the pictures.

But there's a mystery to be solved.

One of the pictures shows contestants in the Ritz Holiday Girl contest from the 1950s - together with manager Bill Boht.

"It would be nice if the girls in the picture could be traced," says Mike Taylor.

How ironic, however, that the museum (along with the cinema, the last art deco styled in the area) is now onWirral's misguided list of art centre and library closures.
