Hunt Buys 50% of UK Infrastructure Group.

4 June 2015 - US-based real asset investor Hunt Companies, Inc has acquired a 50% ownership in UK-based infrastructure project funder and developer Amber Infrastructure Group Holdings Ltd., the company said.

Hunt said that the deal gives it the ability to appoint a majority of directors at the Amber holding company.

The Amber team has sourced, developed and financed more than 125 social infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy and urban redevelopment projects across the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia with a total value exceeding GBP 12 bn.

According to Hunt, the majority of Amber's projects are public-private partnerships. Amber also provides management services on more than 80 infrastructure projects in eight countries.

The majority of these projects are held in a series of funds managed by a subsidiary, Amber Fund Management Ltd.

Hunt said that the largest of these funds is International Public Partnerships Ltd., a GBP 1.1bn global infrastructure fund listed on the London Stock Exchange. Amber was formed in 2009 through a management buyout of a global investment and advisory firm's public-private partnership infrastructure team and portfolio.

Amber's earliest projects date from 1998 and, as long-term investors, Amber and its funds generally expect to retain investments until maturity.

Hunt has worked in PPP projects for decades, deploying its development, construction, financing and management resources on behalf of government agency partners.

The company is involved in the US Military Housing Privatization Initiative, having completed over 45 PPP projects in 21 states.

Amber Infrastructure Group is a international infrastructure specialist, providing asset management and investment advisory services in respect of assets in the UK, Europe, Australia and Canada.
