Hundreds of candidates filed nomination papers for LG polls.
NAWABSHAH -- In the second phase of local government elections in Sindh province, hundreds of candidates filed their nomination papers for contesting the seats of councilors, chairman for one Municipal Committee and the District Council of Shaheed Benazirabad district.
For 46 wards of the Nawabshah municipal committee, 506 nomination forms were submitted while 478 nomination forms were filed for 57 wards of eight towns of District Council.
The filing of nomination forms for Municipal Committee and District Council continued till mid night and intending candidates along with a large number of supporters submitted their nomination forms.
On the other hand for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman of 58 Union Councils of the district, 269 nomination forms were submitted while 966 forms were presented for the seats of councilors of 232 wards of 58 Union Councils.
As many as 255 forms were submitted for 58 seat of the district council that would have 58 directly elected members from union councils.
The date for withdrawal of nomination forms was from 26 September to October 1, 2015.
There are eight town committees with 57 wards, one municipal committee with 46 wards while one district council with 58 UCs and 232 Union Wards in the district.
