Human nature never changes; FEEDBACK.
REMEMBER a song with the lyric "It ain't what you do but the way that you do it" because it fits the intention of Channel 4 to interview residents in Tilery in Stockton. The programme could provide information that could be used to improve conditions and lives in an area of deprivation. My fear is that it will merely provide entertainment, and confirm the prejudices of the "holier than thou" hypocrites. A realistic picture of areas of concern could inform for future action. It may be the area is not represented as well as it should be, and if this emerges it should be salutary to the councillors who represent the area. It could indicate the measures of the Government are wrongly targeted and too severe. A programme designed as a documentary could be enlightening but I think it will be negative in its impact. I suspect it is a bid to open Channel 4 to new audiences attracted to the lowest common denominator of public taste. Human nature does not improve. GEOFF BULMER, Billingham
