Human Rights Minister Receives the Inspector General of the National Security Apparatus.

Manama, January 9th (BNA) --Minister of Human Rights Affairs, Dr. Salah Bin Ali Abdul Rahman received the Inspector-General of the National Security Apparatus, Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaihi in his office at the ministry's headquarters in Bahrain Financial Port.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Salah welcomed the Inspector-General, and discussed with him ways of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Human Rights Affairs and the General Inspectorate.

Dr. Salah said, "The role of the General Inspectorate is increasing a lot in this phase, particularly in performing its duties with objectivity, monitoring and honesty, and we have great trust in the competency and sincerity of the General Inspectorate in performing its honorable national duty." The Minister stressed that the report of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry obliged the General Inspectorate with some roles related to activating the legal tools to achieve justice and accountability for the alleged violations or irregularities of the law enforcers. He also highlighted that the royal will by developing an office for grievances at the Ministry of Interior, and a General Inspectorate at the National Security Apparatus represented one of the outcomes of the implementation of the recommendations, and fulfilled the pledges taken by the Kingdom in front of UN human rights forums, of having full consideration to human rights affairs.

Dr. Salah considered the role of the ministry, the General Inspectorate and the office of grievances at the Interior Ministry is integrative and participatory, aiming at achieving the interests of homeland and its citizens in the first place.

The minister highlighted that the current stage in Bahrain is witnessing the true image of the concept of accountability, and there is no impunity for any abuse, regardless of kind or position, for Bahrain is a state of institutions and the law. He also said that the judicial institutions represent the cornerstone of establishing justice and consolidating right in Bahrain, in accordance with HM the King's directives and the contents of the comprehensive reform project which includes principles, democratic, rights, economic, social and development values.

For his part, Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaihi praised the role of the Ministry of Human Rights Affairs in preserving the dignity of human being, aspiring to open new channels of cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the General Inspectorate at the National Security Apparatus.
