Huge rises on 2010 figures; MARKET WATCH.

IT MAY have lacked the pedigrees and, at times, electric atmosphere of last week, but trade has continued throughout the past three days at a level well ahead of last year.

Book 2 looked set to return a record turnover of around 25 million guineas, up around 3m gns on 2010, with a formidable clearance rate reflecting some spectacular profits for certain breeders and pinhookers.

There were few bigger beneficiaries than those who had something to sell by Acclamation, whose yearlings were conceived for a fee of EUR20,000 and averaged around 120,000gns in Book 2. The market's premiership and first division have both surprised many by showing huge rises on last year, and today it is the turn of the market's lower league to illustrate its wellbeing or otherwise as a mammoth 346-lot catalogue for Book 3 is offered.
