Huawei rolls out new smartphones at CES.

China-based telecoms equipment maker Huawei has launched a series of new flagship products at International CES 2013 as it strives to muscle through the ranks of the consumer electronics industry.

The devices unveiled include three new smartphones from the company's Ascend series; a home device solution dubbed the MediaQ; and a full range of LTE mobile and desktop devices.

The Ascend handsets are set for a China debut within the next two months, with expansion into other global markets earmarked for later in the year. One of the series, the Ascend Mate, is said to feature the world's largest smartphone screen: a 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a screen-to-body ratio of 73%. Aimed at both the business and consumer markets, the Ascend Mate includes a 1.5 GHz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor and a 4050 mAh battery.

Huawei also unveiled the Huawei Ascend D2, which boasts a 5-inch IPS Super Retina LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, 443 PPI and a 3000 mAh (typical value) battery capacity. The Huawei Ascend D2 features a 13MP BSI auto-focus rear-facing camera with detail-capturing technology and an ISO sensitivity level that Huawei claims is higher than other smartphones in the same category.

Also at Huawei's CES booth was its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Huawei Ascend W1, with a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and Adreno 305 GPU, a 4-inch IPS LCD screen, and 1950 mAh battery with the longest standby time in its class, according to Huawei.

As part of its connected home solutions, Huawei showcased the Huawei MediaQ, a media cube that connects and shares content from multiple screens including smartphones and tablets, and features a voice search function and HD video calls.
