1 Wipe down kitchen cabinets every 2-3 months; inside and out, and don't forget the top.

2 Keep food surfaces as clean as possible to stop mould. Use water-resistant grouting for tiles.

3 Wipe food surfaces down after preparing food with a cloth dampened with kitchen cleaner.

4 Open windows regularly to help reduce condensation and to freshen the air in the kitchen when in use.

5 Wash out your fridge regularly to make sure that mould doesn't gather in the corners.

6 Check food regularly and bin items that are out of date.

7 Use an extractor fan to remove excess moisture.

8 Choose an easy to clean floor and ensure that it fits tightly around the bases of the cabinets.
