How oarsome duo teamed up for crack at rowing glory.

HELEN GLOVER ?Born: June 17, 1986 ?Place of Birth: Truro ?How did she get into it? Helen only started rowing in 2008 through the Sporting Giants scheme and was rapidly placed on to the GB Rowing Team's Start programme in Bath.

She had previously competed internationally in cross country and was also part of the English hockey satellite squad as a schoolgirl before being paired with Stanning In 2009 Glover claimed gold in the senior single scull at Henley Women's Regatta.

HEATHER STANNING ?Born: January 1985 ?Place of Birth: Yeovil ?How did she get into it? Stanning was commissioned from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in August 2008 into the Royal Artillery.

After 18 months as a troop commander her potential as an elite rower became apparent and she has been allowed to put her army career on hold to focus on her 2012 Olympic ambitions. In 2007, Stanning won gold with Olivia Whitlam in the women's pair at world Under-23 Championships.
