How big is this kitchen? Mirrors keep you guessing.

How big is this kitchen? Mirrors keep you guessing Reflecting the merits of this well-planned kitchen, strategically placed mirrors give the illusion of greater space without sacrificing valuable square footage in the process. The mirrors require regular cleaning, but not much more than any other kitchen surface.

Backsplashes, window-flanking columns, and pantry doors are all mirrored, bouncing light off walls and extending sight lines throughout the room. Creatively adapted from standard bedroom closet sliders, the pantry doors cover recessed shelves and hang on a track mounted to the alcove ceiling.

The bold pattern of the floor adds to the illusion of space as it's reflected in the mirrors. The tile counters and backsplash pick up the same grid.

Architect was Bouje Bernkopf of Woodland Hills for Susan and Gene Fridolfs of Malibu, California.
