Houston ATM upgrade.

Houston's airports and their air traffic management system will get a $36.7 million upgrade thanks to FAA funding. Nearly $25 million is earmarked for replacement of the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) system. The remaining amount is being allocated for the Houston Area Air Traffic System (HAATS) radar and its programme support. Two important proposed runway projects within the three airport Houston Airport System hinge on an expanded TRACON. The construction of Houston-Bush Intercontinental's proposed Runway 9R/27L may be needed as early as 2010, while Runway 12L/30R's widening and lengthening may need to be accelerated to bring it online in 2010.
