Housing group bolsters its move into care sector.

HOUSING association Linc-Cymru has further boosted its expansion into the health and social care sector by appointing a new head of clinical services for its specialist Linc Care division.

Dr Heather Davies brings 30 years' experience in health and social care to the role.

She has experience of developing care through nurse education, clinical services and managing change and has also undertaken reviews with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Dr Davies said: "I'm delighted to join an organisation that strives to maintain independent living and quality of life, and where I can be part of the development of new services."

Linc Care believes its investment in the senior management structure will strengthen its clinical governance and strategic direction to continue to offer the highest standards in person-centred and clinical care in a secure, relaxed and homely environment.

Anne Thomas, executive director of Linc Care, says of Heather's appointment: "We are thrilled that Heather has joined us. We are very proud of the continuous improvement we are making in the fields of clinical innovation and service improvement and she is the right person to help us do that.

"Heather has further strengthened our clinical governance commitment to improve the quality of care. Both Heather and myself have a nursing background and extensive experience or working in the areas of Health and Social Care within the NHS in England and Wales, something which is rare among not for profit providers in Wales. Her brief is varied covering performance, governance, risk management and nurse education."

Addressing the housing, care and support needs of older people and vulnerable service user groups, Linc Care has four extra care schemes in Newport, two in Cardiff and one in Ebbw Vale.

Linc's nursing care division provides high-quality nursing care to NHS and private patients at its Capel Grange Community Nursing Home in Newport.

A second home under construction in Penylan in Cardiff will see the completion of phase one of the project later this month.
