Housebuilder makes it easy for everyone to surf web.

TAYLOR Wimpey is leading the way after winning the seal of approval for user friendly web access.

The company, with developments across Merseyside and the north west, is the first housebuilder in the UK to have its website independently accredited as accessible, inclusive and user friendly for people with disabilities.

The website - - was awarded a high level of accessibility by the Shaw Trust, one of the leading providers of web accessibility services in the UK which works to support disabled and disadvantaged people. As such it now displays the Shaw Trust 'Accessible' logo.

The Shaw Trust Web Accreditation Service is the most comprehensive service available and is endorsed by GAWDS (The Guild of Accessible Web Designers). It combines a full technical audit with rigorous testing by a panel of experienced technology users with a range of disabilities who use different technologies to access the internet.

"We are delighted to be leading the way in the housebuilding industry by receiving this independent seal of approval," says Karen Cullis, head of marketing at Taylor Wimpey. "Meeting the needs of all our customers is of paramount importance to us, from building homes suitable for everyone, to ensuring that all our communications are accessible and user friendly for everyone."

"If the information on websites is not presented correctly, people with a range of disabilities can have difficulty accessing, navigating or reading the contents," adds Dan Hounsham, sales manager for Shaw Trust's Web Accessibility Service.
