Hotels offer free tickets with spring short breaks.

HOTEL groups are tempting families to take short Easter breaks by offering free tickets to major attractions.

There are more than 30 hotels in the Mercure chain and guests staying between March 1 and May 31 can get free entry for two adults to more than 200 National Trust estates.

Passes are included in packages starting at pounds 79 per night for two people, including B&B accommodation.

The price for the same deal rises to pounds 109 for Mercure hotels in Bath, Boxhill, Cheltenham, central London, Oxford, Stratford and Windsor.

In Derby, where Royal Crown Derby stages an exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the launch of the Titanic until July 2, Jurys Inn Derby offers one night B&B for two adults and two children sharing their room for pounds 69.

* MUST SEE: In Manchester the Tutankhamun Exhibition showcases more than 1,000 objects at the Museum of Museums in the Trafford Centre. Superbreak offers room-only stays at Travelodge Manchester Central from pounds 32.95 per person. It is valid from Monday to Friday until March 26.

Windsor Castle Families looking for a cheap UK break also need their fingers on the buzzer for the latest room sale by budget hotel chain Travelodge, starting at 6am on March 3.

Up for grabs are 300,000 rooms from pounds 10 per night for stays between March 4 and October 31.

A Travelodge family room caters for two adults and two children or three adults.

Grade II-listed hotels in the Travelodge group can be found in Redditch, Durham, Bath, Leamington Spa and London.
