Hotel will breathe life into 'dead' area at night.

WHAT great news that Birkenhead's Hamilton Square is to get its own boutique hotel.

I know there are those worried about the impact on the historic surroundings but to my mind a hotel is what's been needed here for a very long time.

This is a beautiful area but is woefully underused; at night it is totally dead.

A hotel will hopefully attract people and other businesses and breath new life into the place.

It will also bring to the fore the biggest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings outside London. And that has to be to the good.
