Hotel's new owners to open brasserie-style restaurant.

AVICTORIAN hotel in the heart of Hexham will soon introduce a new brasserie restaurant after it was snapped up by new owners.

Newcastle-based Clarke Mairs LLP acted for clients Roger and Magda Davy in the purchase of the Best Western Beaumont Hotel, which overlooks Hexham Abbey and Sele Park.

The late Victorian hotel has 32 double en-suite bedrooms, parking, a restaurant and bar, and was purchased with funding from Barclays Bank, who were also represented by Clarke Mairs.

The new owners, who live in Hexham, know the hotel well and now have plans to open a restaurant inside the property to run alongside the hotel business.

The couple have significant experience in the hospitality industry, having just sold The Aleksander, a successful Twickenham pub. This is the first hotel they have bought.

Mr Davy said: "We decided to buy The Beaumont because we feel it has fantastic space to create a vibrant, brasserie-style eatery in Hexham, which will go well with its already thriving hotel business.

"Also, the hotel has hosted many significant family events for us over the years and has great sentimental value.

"We will be keeping the existing name and we look forward to working with all members of the excellent team. We have several plans to refurbish the restaurant and bar along with a number of rooms in the coming months.

"Clarke Mairs provided comprehensive advice on all legal aspects of the purchase and were very approachable and helpful throughout the process.

"The team worked quickly and we'd be happy to recommend them. They gave us excellent support."

Tim Clarke said: "We acted for Roger's mother when she sold her business, so we're delighted to have been able to assist the family again to secure the purchase of this beautiful hotel.

"We worked hard to complete the purchase within a short two month timescale, and we're particularly proud to have achieved this over the holiday season.

"The Best Western Beaumont Hotel is well-known in the Hexham community and we wish Roger and Magda every success with their exciting plans for this much-loved local landmark."
