Hot dance in the summertime.

The sold-out Fire Island Dance Festival raised more than $307,000 for Dancers Responding to AIDS. The Choreographic Sponsorship program fostered seven world premieres, including Jerry Mitchell's laugh-out-loud romp Suite Love for Rasta Thomas and the Bad Boys of Dance, and David Parsons' moving duet Bend to Me. Jason Samuels Smith spontaneously acknowledged the sunset during his tap improvisation, saying "Isn't it beautiful?" Other dancers included Drew Jacoby and Rubinald Pronk, and members of Ballet Hispanico, Jennifer Muller/The Works, and Alvin Alley American Dance Theater. See www.dradance.org.
