Edited by Zeid Nasser WD 160 GB mobile hard drive for notebook?
Western Digital (WD), a leading hard disk drive manufacturer, has
announced the launch of its 160 GB WD Scorpio 2.5-inch hard Serial ATA (SATA) drives. The drives employ perpendicular magnetic recording
technology (PMR) to achieve the high capacity in the small form factor.
WD Scorpio drives deliver the specifications and features that meet
demands specific to notebook PCs and portable storage devices, such as
WD PassportA: quiet operation, high shock tolerance and low power
consumption. The new WD Scorpio drives expand the company's breadth
of 2.5-inch mobile hard drive offerings to capacity points ranging from
40 GB to 160 GB.With PMR technology, the magnetization of each data bit
is aligned vertically to the spinning disk, rather than longitudinally
as has been the case in hard drive technology for decades. This enables
more data on a given disk than is possible with conventional
longitudinal recording, and provides a platform for future expansion of
hard drive densities. WD's WhisperDrive technology with SoftSeek
algorithms helps make WD Scorpio the quietest 2.5 inch drive available.
Its ShockGuardao technology combines firmware and hardware advancements
to protect the drive mechanics and delicate platter surface.Palm
Treo750v.? Palm is launching the new Treo750v.It comes with a new,
elegant silver tipped stylus as well as a much slimmer and smaller
capacity battery (1200 vs 1800mAh), which makes it 15 percent lighter
than the Treo 650.It's got an internal antenna, quadband GSM with
triband UMTS, Bluetooth and HSDPA radio. There's a 1.3-megapixel
camera sitting atop Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Phone Edition. The phone

Canon has just unveiled three new Digital IXUS cameras with the SD900,
SD800 IS, and SD40 all featuring an array of new features. Starting with
the highest spec camera, the SD900 is a 10 megapixel 3x zoom jobbie,
with a 2.5-inch LCD screen and 18 shooting modes, including that 1024 x
768, 15fps video capture mode that the G7 recently acquired. In the
middle is the 7.1 megapixel SD 800 IS, the first IXUS to carry an image
stabilized wide angle 28-105mm 3x zoom lens.Finally there's the
SD40, the smallest model in the range that packs a 7.1 megapixel CCD and
a 2.4x zoom lens into four differently colored cases. All three new
cameras feature the Digic III image processor.Hot Products
