Hospital PC thief is jailed.

A THIEF who stole hospital computers containing patient details and research into MRSA was jailed yesterday.

Steven Minks, 38, was given four-and-a-half years at the Old Bailey.

He admitted two burglaries in January this year and asked for 28 other offences since 1999 to be taken into consideration.

Minks, originally from Southport, blended in at hospitals and colleges before grabbing equipment to fund a drug habit.

In one of the later thefts, from Bart's Hospital in London, a laptop containing two weeks of research into hospital superbug MRSA was taken.

Judge Christopher Moss told Minks: "You are a serial burglar and caused enormous loss."

The judge said the theft from Bart's "had a knock-on effect to patients".
