Horse Racing: McCain can fry high with Brigs' rescue mission; WINNER MACHINE SATURDAY SPECIALS.

THIS page is in danger of becoming a Donald McCain love-in, with Newsboy hitting on his Mohayer in the totesport Gold Trophy and this column having another go with BALLABRIGGS at Ayr.

The novice chaser was retained on the list after last week's Leicester fall where he slid into the first fence and paid the price.

Young McCain has always thought a great deal of this horse and retains the faith, giving an easy time for treatment to bruising following the fall, before stepping up his work earlier in the week.

His trainer wouldn't be coming here if he wasn't sure the seven-year-old was fully fit and he really should get off the mark over fences here, as long as his luck holds out for Jason Maguire.

Talking of the McCain's, ANOTHER RUM isn't another Red Rum, but he's still a useful stayer who loves running round this Scottish track in the mud.

He caught the eye on his comeback at Hexham in November and probably found the ground a bit lively at Doncaster last week.

He deserves another chance on his favourite stamping ground.

Colin Tizzard and his family have a real good bunch of horses and AMBLE FORGE wouldn't be the slowest they have in the string.

He caught the eye travelling too freely in the mud on his handicap debut at Plumpton early last month and better ground at Warwick will help him last home under son Joe.

SANDS CROONER is the sand selection at Lingfield, being sure to go close if getting off on terms.

SELECTIONS: Today Ayr 1.45 Ballabriggs, 2.55 Another Rum. Lingfield 3.45 Sands Crooner. Warwick 4.45 Amble Forge.

OTHER HORSES TO FOLLOW: Blackpool Billy, Border Owl, Captain Oscar, Cool Operator, Diriculous, Exmoor Ranger, Final Veto, First Buddy, Galant Nuit, Golden Desert, Hockenheim, Ignotus, I'm A Legend, Invention, Khumbu, Miss Ceka, Mister Trickster, Nice Try, Premier Des Marais, Ringaroses, Rock Wren, Shadowland, Simon, Tears Of A Clown, Von Galen, Warne's Way.

UNLUCKY: Ballabriggs can get off the mark at Ayr; MAGUIRE: Hot on Ballabriggs; TIZZARD: Keep it in the family
