Horse Racing: Group 1 king Boss takes tally to seven.

ALTHOUGH the big news in Australia over the weekend was Miss Finland's victory in the Golden Slipper and Eremein taking the BMW Classic, there were three more Group 1 events on the Saturday undercard at Rosehill in Sydney.

Glen Boss, who rode Eremein to success and is scheduled to ride at Ascot this summer in the Shergar Cup, also took the seven-furlong George Ryder Stakes on Racing To Win to take his Group 1 tally to seven for the season.

Racing To Win, trained by John O'Shea, came with a well-timed run to beat the odds-on favourite Paratroopers by a long head, with Lad Of The Manor finishing fast into third another two lengths away.

Boss said: "I nominated Racing To Win a few starts ago as one of the best three-year-olds in Australia at up to 1,600 metres. He was beaten last time on fitness, and John and I knew he went into that race a touch underdone, and he's improved since."

Rosehill Queen Of The Turf Stakes G1 7 1/2 f Mnemosyne impressive over a smart field of fillies and mares and set to run in next week's Doncaster Handicap, where the last three-year-old filly to win was the great Sunline.

Rosehill Arrowfield Stud Stakes G1 1 m2f Serenade Rose is likely to be a short price for the AJC Oaks on April 19 after an impressive success. "She was the dominant filly of the spring and now she's the dominant filly of the autumn," said trainer Lee Freedman. But she will need a new jockey in the Oaks - her rider, Steven King, was suspended for five weeks for careless riding.
