Hope's Red Rooster Ale struts new look

Hope Brewing Corp. announced the availability of Red Rooster Ale with a modern label design that will serve as the basis for the company's new "look."

"Red Rooster, a flavorful, English-style red ale, is a perfect complement to our award-winning Hope Lager," said Frederick Frost III, chairman, Hope Brewing Corp. "Moreover, we're very pleased to use Red Rooster to show off our company's new image and we believe the new look reflects our unbridled enthusiasm and confidence in the future of Hope."

Developed by Providence designer Pamela Kuehl, the Red Rooster label features a dark blue background with white and gold lettering, a seaport scene, and an illustration of a rooster. Frost said the label's basic style will be used as the company phases in labels, packaging and point-of-sale material for its other products.

Red Rooster's label will also be one of the first in the country to carry a government-mandated health warning, urging women who are pregnant to abstain from alcoholic beverages and warning people about the dangers of drinking and driving, Frost said.

"We're proud to be one of the first brewers in the country to put this important message on our labels," Frost noted. "Hope is a strong proponent of the moderate consumption of alcohol."

Red Rooster will be Hope's second, full-production malt beverage, along with Hope Lager. The brewery had introduced a version of Red Rooster as its 1988 Christmas Ale, and sales and reviews were so positive, Frost said, that Hope brought the product back as Hope Red Ale for a brief time last spring in connection with a public "name-the-ale" contest, which produced the name Red Rooster.
