Hong Kong : Interactive census data goes online.

The Census & Statistics Department has launched the online interactive data dissemination service for the 2011 Population Census for free use, enabling data users to produce statistical tables with their own data specifications.

Compared to a similar service developed for the 2006 Population By-census, this new service provides a more user-friendly interface for easier table building.

The interactive feature is enhanced so that data users can introduce an item on statistics or classification and view the updated statistical table at the same time. This ensures that data users can obtain statistical information which suits their own needs in a more timely manner.

After producing a table, users may customise it by adding percentage figures, revising classification groupings, filtering classification items or making comparisons with related data of the 2006 Population By-census and 2001 Population Census.

Users may also view the data in charts and download tailor-made statistical tables and charts for further processing and analyses.
