Honda Motors, in association with Autoliv - a Sweden based airbag manufacturer - has launched a new-generation airbag that is claimed to reduce injuries.

The firm has claimed that the airbag can help to reduce a wider range of injuries that could be sustained during accidents. In a media report, the firm said that the new airbag would secure the passenger's head better and bring the airbag closer to the passenger. The firm said that the new generation airbags would debut in Honda vehicles from next year. It is not known which vehicle would first receive the airbag.

While conventional airbags come with an inflatable component, the new generation airbags consist of a centre chamber and two outward-projecting side chambers that increase the surface area of the airbag across the dashboard.
