Homestead Technologies Announces Hurricane Katrina Fundraising Effort.

Company Calls for Support of Gulf-Coast Area Small Businesses

MENLO PARK, Calif., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Homestead Technologies, Inc. ( http://www.homestead.com/ ), a provider of web site creation and online marketing services for small businesses, today announced that the Homestead Katrina Relief Fund has raised over $62,000 for long-term humanitarian relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Contributions were raised from Homestead's employees and its community of small business customers, and included matching funds from the Homestead Foundation, which is administering the grants to local community foundations in the affected areas of the Gulf Region.

Homestead also created a web site feature, in the form of a drag-and-drop icon that subscribers could place on their sites to accept direct donations to the Foundation from their own customers. Additionally, the company created a web page featuring the websites of Gulf Coast businesses in order to promote and encourage patronage of their online sites. "It was so difficult during the first months after the hurricane, because it didn't even seem like we were on American soil," says Lisa McKenzie, Homestead subscriber and owner of Rhino Business Services, located in the New Orleans Convention Center. "I can only tell you that the generosity demonstrated by the Homestead community was added proof that people truly care and that they have not forgotten all that we've been through."

"The heartfelt gratitude that we've received from our subscribers, reaffirms our collective ability to make positive and meaningful change within our communities," says Justin Kitch, Homestead CEO & co-founder. "The hurricane is gone, but the recovery is just beginning. Small businesses are essential to the rebirth and revitalization of the region and we urge our members and everybody throughout the country to try and support local businesses in the Gulf Region."
