COLUMN: QUICK TAKES
It will be our own version of "Project Runway." The Worcester Center for Crafts, in conjunction with its upcoming exhibit of paper artwork, "Pulp Function," invites artists, designers, craftspeople, couturiers and others to transform a disposable paper dress (provided free) into an ensemble suitable for the red carpet. You may paint it, dart it, print it, cut it, embellish it with baubles - and then you must wear it to the exhibit opening reception April 17. Shy men may show their designs on a designated model.
Judges will choose 12 ensembles to be displayed during the "Pulp Fiction" show. The top three challengers will win an opportunity to have a mini show of their artwork in the craft center library. This is a competition, but meant to be fun. Criteria for judging include originality, quality of execution, creative use of materials, outfit worthy of knock-off (by a real designer) and wow factor.
Reserve your dress by registering with Corinne at email@example.com. Give her your contact information including e-mail. Or call the craft center at (508) 753-8183.
