20 January 2017 - Minneapolis-based real estate brokerage company HomeServices of America, Inc. has announced its plans to acquire New York-based real estate firm Houlihan Lawrence to expand its portfolio, the company said.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Houlihan Lawrence will retain its name under the HomeServices umbrella.

With this transaction, HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate said it has nearly 29,500 real estate professionals operating in nearly 570 offices across 28 states.

In 2016, the company's associates facilitated more than USD 93bn in residential real estate sales.

Houlihan Lawrence serves over 90 communities with 30 offices and 1,300 agents, leveraging global partners on six continents and in 56 countries.

The company closed USD 6.7bn of sales volume in 2016.
