Home study can ease financial strain of retakes; LearningZone.

WHEN this year's GCSE and A-Level exam results arrive, many students will have to face the dreaded reality that they haven't done as well as they might, and will need to retake exams in order to go onto the next level of education.

This can be a very expensive exercise for parents and it often means that the pupil has to spend another six months to a year to retake.

State schools and colleges will only take their pupils back for retakes under special circumstances, for example, if you were ill at exam time.

They would generally have to go somewhere else, such as a private further education college.

Private tuition does not come cheap.

For example, A-Level retakes can cost as much as pounds 7,410 for three subjects.

OLCI offers an extremely affordable solution. There's a wide range of subjects offered by home-study, courses costing just pounds 325 for a GCSE and pounds 375 for an A-Level, excluding exam costs.

This includes all course materials and a personally designated tutor who guides you through your course - in essence one-on-one teaching.

With OLCI, you don't have to go back into a classroom to study for your GCSEs or A-Levels. Open learning enables you to study at home, or wherever you want and wherever you are in the world.

You do need to put some time aside each week for studying, but it's up to you how you fit it into your schedule.

OLCI has a number of interesting case studies, with a diverse range of people that take the courses, ranging from a Kuwaiti Princess to the celebrity pop stars Natasha Bedingfield and her brother Daniel.

Both were able to forge their music careers without sacrificing their education by studying for their exams with OLCI.
