Holsten Import sees a record sales year

In 1990, the Holsten Brauerei AG of Hamburg, Germany, achieved the highest level of sales in the brewery's history, according to its American import agent, Holsten Import Corp. Total production the company's four breweries increased by 26 million gallons to 126 million--a 25.6-percent increase.

Of the total, roughly 100 million gallons were sold in Germany, an increase of 30.5 percent, while 26 million gallons were exported.

Additionally, the production of Holsten products under licensing agreements outside Germany continued to make strides. The company saw "excellent progress in Hungary, remained steady in Great Britain, was limited by the lack of raw materials in Nigeria and started up in China in August 1990," a Holsten spokesperson said. In all, 23.8 million /gallons were produced under license.
