Hollyoaks duo sets up acting classes; 08 Culture Diary.

IF THE world really is celebrity crazy, then Hollyoaks veterans Loui Batley and her chum Simon Lawson should find a madcap scramble among the younger "wannabes" for their planned series of acting classes in Liverpool.

The classes start on Saturday, March 1, and Simon explains that they will run four sessions throughout the day.

But, before the rush starts, Simon is keen to stress that even admission to the classes - which cost pounds 20 for a two-hour stint - is by way of audition.

"We do have to assess if the kids have any ability and so this coming weekend we are holding auditions," said Simon, 26, who left Hollyoaks last year after several months playing the part of lifeguard Crosby.

His real-life girlfriend Loui Batley joined the cast of the long-running Hollyoaks three years ago, when she was only 17, and continues to play Sarah Barnes.

"We felt we had a lot to offer young actors and the small groups of 25 in each class allow us to give more effective one-to-one coaching," he said.

"And with our range of contacts we feel we are well placed to develop and nurture fresh young talent.

"We will actively promote our students to agents and casting directors," he added.

Auditions take place on Saturday, February 16, at the Casting Factory, in Regina House, in Victoria Street, Liverpool.
