Hokkaido man nabbed for fatally stabbing girlfriend+.

SAPPORO, May 2 Kyodo

A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing his girlfriend outside a bar in Tomakomai in southern Hokkaido, and seriously injuring another man who tried to subdue him, police said.

Police said they arrested Hideto Obuchi, 37, on suspicion of stabbing Chika Kawazoe, 23, in the chest and abdomen during an altercation in front of the bar Kawazoe owns, at around 1:45 a.m.

Obuchi then stabbed Masakazu Sakamoto, 34, in the abdomen as he attempted to subdue him.

Kawazoe was taken to hospital where she later died, police said.

Obuchi told police he was drunk at the time of the stabbing and angry at Kawazoe for snubbing him recently, police officials said.
