Hitting the right note for charity..

A GUITAR maker whose wife survived cancer has donated a handmade instrument to raise funds for a charity that helps people with the disease.

Craftsman Dermot McIlroy, whose creations sell for thousands of pounds, has handed over the "unique and valuable" instrument to help the Belfastbased Sing For Life community choir. Dermot said: "As part of her recovery, Colleen, my daughter Fiona and sisterin-law Michelle became members of the Sing for Life choir and have gotten so much from it - support, friendship and joy.

"I felt donating one of my custom A15 guitars for auction would be a great way to say thank you."

The McIlroy A15 guitar will be on Ebay from Monday until December 2.
