Hitachi Announces North American Operations Restructuring.

Business Editors

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2000

As part of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) Company's strategic vision, we are announcing our plan to restructure North American operations into a product company/sales company structure.

With this plan Euclid-Hitachi Heavy Equipment (EHHE) will function as a product company for Euclid Hauler Products and maintain responsibility for product development, manufacturing, materials management and parts operations. EHHE's related sales, marketing and product support activities will be consolidated with Hitachi's global sales organization.

"The full integration of the Euclid product line into the Hitachi Construction Machinery global organization is a significant step in our overall strategy and will enhance both distributor and customer value," said Iwao Morikawa, chairman and chief executive officer for Euclid-Hitachi. This will streamline both operations and communications at all levels and commonize policies and procedures between the Hitachi and EHHE product lines.

Both Hitachi and Euclid products have industry-wide reputations for high quality and maximum performance over the equipment life cycle.
